Godavari Pushkaram is celebrated when Bruhaspathi enters the Simha Rasi. This is one among the most sacred rivers in India along with Ganga, Krishna and other rivers. The main places where the Godavari Pushkaram is celebrated are Bhadrachalam of Andhra Pradesh, the abode of lord Srirama, Rajamundry, Kovvur, Basara, Kaleswaram and Dhramapuri all belonging to Andhra Pradesh state of India.
   The year of Pushkaram for river Godavari was 2004 in this decade. It is a 12 day celebration of the banks of the river and special Pujas will be performed for the river goddess. Government of Andhra Pradesh takes extreme measures to ensure the safety of pilgrims and devotees hailing from all parts of the country.
