Walkathon organised to mark World Diabetes Day

On the occasion of the International Diabetes Day on Friday, employees of the ONGC Rajahmundry Asset organised a walkathon against the alarming rise of diabetes and bring awareness on the disease among common people.

In resonance with the theme for this year set by International Diabetes Federation – “Healthy living and Diabetes”, the asset organised a special lecture at Godavari Bhawan on how to combat diabetes by inculcating healthy eating habits in our daily routine.

“In present day stressful schedules of the working population, most of us contract diseases unaware, and diabetes is one such blight. Through our initiatives, we aim to educate the local people about devoting utmost attention to healthy diet habits so that our professional and personal life do not suffer owing to negligence”, said R.K. Sharma, GM (HR), Rajahmundry Asset, at the inaugural ceremony on Friday.

T.S. Rao, Asset Manager-Officiating, Rajahmundry Asset, inaugurated the free diabetes screening camp organised in association with Rotary Club and Sri Aditya Hospitals, Rajahmundry. “Rajahmundry Asset has always laid great emphasis on doing its maximum bit for the society, and more precisely in our operational areas. This camp aims to reach out to 2,000 people by providing medical assistance and enhance the health index of the region”, said Mr Rao. The series of events organised by ONGC were co-ordinated by Dr. S.K. Handique, Assistant Chief Medical Officer.
