Stage set for DBTL scheme launch

West Godavari district administration is making arrangements for the launch of the Direct Benefit Transfer for LPG scheme (DBTL) slated for Saturday.

The scheme has been proposed for launch in eight districts in the State, including West Godavari. Joint Collector T. Baburao Naidu took stock of the progress of Aadhaar seeding (linking of Aadhaar cards and LPG consumer numbers with the bank accounts of customers) at a joint meeting with LPG dealers, bankers and civil supplies officials here on Friday.

The LPG dealers informed Mr. Naidu that they had completed the 95 per cent of the Aadhaar seeding and submitted the data to National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI). The NPCI will initiate measures for direct payment of subsidy to the bank accounts of the beneficiaries.

Lead District Manager S. Lakshminarayana said the seeding process from the bankers’ side had been completed up to 75 per cent. The district has more than 8 lakh LPG consumers.

The Joint Collector said that all consumers would receive the refills at market price from May 15, 2015. Those who had their Aadhaar card numbers integrated with LPG consumer numbers and bank account numbers would receive the subsidy amount through their banks under the DBTL.

The refills would be provided to consumers, including those still remained out of the purview of the DBTL, at subsidised prices from November 14, 2014 to February, 2015, he said.
